The Executive Chairman of Obingwa and ALGON Chairman Abia State today 22nd of February, 2021 visited Obot Akara Local Government Council Headquarters to work out activities and modalities towards resolving the interstate boundary crisis between Abia and Akwa Ibom States.
The Joint Meeting of Officials on Akwa Ibom/ Abia State Interstate Boundary held at Akara Obot Local Government Council headquarters,Nto Edino Akwa Ibom State.
The meeting was resolved that the two Local Government Council to inaugurate a committee to be directed to undertake and make findings what causes the conflict and embrace peace to the neighbouring Communities .
Earlier in his opening remarks, the ALGON Chairman Abia State Hon. Nwoke called for peace among the two neighbouring Communities. He further solicited for a special Federal Govt intervention to support the National Boundary Commission in land and conflict dissolution.
Speaking also, the Akara Obot Local Government Chairman, Hon. Lady Agnes Cosmos Udoenwenwem regretted that claims by some border communities have caused tension. He called on the respective communities to maintain peace and imbibe the spirit of brotherliness.
The Traditional Ruler of Mgboko Okengwa Autonomous Community HRH. Eze Sir P.O Ogbonna KSC (UGO OKENGWA) and Comr. Chika Nwaokonko Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria Obingwa Chairman and Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Secretary of Obingwa Local Government Amb. Bestman Eruba , the Chief of Staff, Office of the Executive Chairman, Leaders of the affected border communities and Security personnel were present during the meeting.
