Healthy Environment Scares Deadly Diseases Away, Environment Perm. Sec. ASEPA Boss, Council Chairman Reveals

The Permanent Secretary, Abia State Ministry of Environment, Mr Iheanyichukwu Ubani has advised residents to see the monthly sanitation exercise as a platform to get rid of dirts in their environment and embrace a healthy living.

Mr Ubani made the appeal through the director pollution control and environmental health, Abia state ministry of environment, Ikechukwu Ukegbu after monitoring the exercise in Umuahia.

He further enjoined Abians not to see the sanitation exercise as the primary duty of government because both government and the public will benefit from a healthy environment.

He appealed to Abia residents to see the sanitation exercise as an opportunity to prevent deadly diseases like the dreaded Coronavirus.

On his part, the General Manager of Abia state Environmental Protection Agency, ASEPA, Comrade Eze Okwulehie charged traders at Eket street by Owerri road, Umuahia to always make their surroundings.

Contributing, the leader of Hausa community in Abia state, Alhaji Yaro Danladi appreciated the General Manager of ASEPA for his visit and told the enforcement team that he announced in the mosque on Friday the need for everyone to participate in the sanitation exercise.

Interacting with newsmen at Umuahia North Secretariat, the Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, Mr. Ugochukwu Njinkonye harped the need for residents to embrace a healthy lifestyle and warned that in the next cleanup exercise, there will be a strict penalty for defaulters.
