Program Manager Flags Off Rice Training With NCAM, Extols Gov Ikpeazu


The Dr Okezie Ikpeazu’s giant stride in Agriculture has continued to yield more dividends as the state partners with the National Center for Agric Mechanisation (NCAM) to train rice farmers in Ofiavu field Igbere.

Speaking during the epoch making history event, the Program Manager Agricultural Development Program (ADP) Chief Israel Amanze unequivocally said that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s Agricultural Revolution is the reason why there is wide acceptance of agriculture in all the hooks and crannies of the state. Chief Amanze said that Governor Ikpeazu has given farmers the desired enabling environment to succeed.


Program Manager Abia ADP Hon Chief Amanze Israel Oke Orji Abia, who demonstrated the operations of the Power Tiler during the training session at Ofiavu Igbere in Bende LGA urged Abia farmers to take advantage of the training and Technology transfer.


This training is courtesy of a collaboration of Abia ADP with the National CENTRE for Agricultural Mechanization NCAM Ilorin. Addressing the participants the Program manager implored them to accept the new SAWAH TECHNOLOGY being introduced through the collaboration with NCAM. Chief Amanze Extolled the Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for giving him the opportunity to serve farmers in the state. He applauded the Governor for making Agriculture one of his key Pillars of Development in and thanked NCAM for collaborating with the ADP to train and equip farmers. It will be recalled that following the collaboration with NCAM in 2021 the CENTRE mounted a full scale technology exhibition at ABIA ADP, approved the establishment of a satellite CENTRE in ABIA state precisely at Research Umudike. The CENTRE supplied Power Tiller and has been training rice farmer groups in UMUAHIA LGA, Igbere and next in Arochukwu.
NCAM has trained ADP staff on tractor management and operation, Food processing and preservation and many other skill acquisitions in Agriculture. The NCAM has presented ADP with rice harvesting and threshing machines for farmers in rice growing areas and is installing cassava processing facilities in Isiala Ngwa South.
Chief Amanze thanked the Executive Director NCAM, Dr Kasali and his Management team especially Dr Ozumba, Dr Agumadi Mike and Dr Segun who have elaborated favored Abia ADP within the last one and promised never to let them down.
Chief Amanze assured the Governor that with the robust relationships the ADP has cultivated with institutions with NCAM, CBN, FMARD, ARMTII and many others ABIA farmers are in for good times ahead.
The training session featured The State Program Coordinator NCARES FADAMA Project pastor Ibe Johnson with the NCAM National coordinator of the SAWAH Technology ,Dr Ademiluyi Segun and prominent Rice farmers.
