Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has commended the newly invested Knight of St Sylvester the Pope, Prof Gabriel Okenwa for complementing Government’s efforts at establishing Institutions for the advancement of educational pursuits in the State.
Sir Oko Chukwu made the commendation while commissioning the Multi Purpose Auditorium named after the Governor, Dr Okezie lkpeazu for the take off of the proposed Lux Mundi University at Ndagbo City, Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia North LGA as part of events marking his investiture as the Knight of St Sylvester the Pope performed by the Bishop of Umuahia Catholic Diocese, The Most Rev Dr Lucius Ugorji at the Matei Dei Cathedral, Umuahia.
The Deputy Governor further extolled Prof GOC Okenwa for his thoughtfulness in citing the proposed Lux Mundi University in his Afaraukwu Community which will ursher greater development in his area and the State and prayed God to sustain and provide him the resources to achieve this lofty dream.
He congratulated him and other awardees for being found worthy the high honour which according to him calls for greater committment to God, the Church and humanity and expressed optimism that with his antecedents and contributions,he will justify the confidence the Holy Father and the Local Ordinary of Umuahia Catholic Diocese repose in him.
In his remarks, the Chairman on the occasion, Justice Igbo Akomas who noted that Prof. G.O.C. Okenwa has with the shortest time distinguished himself in education and banking sector through dint of hardwork and integrity described him as a harbouring of God tidings to Afara Ibeku, Umuahia and State at large and attributed his elevation to the next level of a papal Knights as well deserved.
Responding, the celebrant, Prof. G.O.C Okenwa said he feel highly honoured to be appointed and invested as a papal Knights and promised not to relent in his committment in advancing the church and gospel of Christ as well as providing a veritable platform for quality education and thanked the Deputy Governor Sir Ude Oko Chukwu and everyone that came to identify and celebrate with them.
The event which featured the unveling of Multi Purpose Auditorium and of dedication as well as cutting of cake attracted the presence of top Government Officials Traditional Rulers from Afara Community.
