PRESS WEEK: CHIMA ANYASO IDENTIFIES WITH NUJ, LAUNCHES MAIDEN MAGAZINE

The Founder, Chima Anyaso Foundation and Managing Director of CAADES Oil & Gas Ltd. Dr. Desmond Chima Anyaso has identified with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), State Information Chapel on their Press Week and launched the maiden magazine of the Chapel “AbiaInfoWatch”.

In his speech, at the event, Dr. Chima Anyaso and Chief Launcher of the magazine urged journalists to continue to use their pen to bring about development in the society.

Dr. Chima Anyaso, represented by a former Permanent Secretary in the State and member, Board of Trustee of Chima Anyaso Foundation, Sir Pat Irokansi said that the importance of publications like AbiaInfoWatch cannot be over-emphasised. He said it is good to use such publications to inform the public of the developmental policies of the present administration in Abia State.

Dr. Anyaso congratulated the Chapel on the initiative of publishing such a magazine and encouraged them to sustain their efforts in promoting peace and tranquillity through the journalism profession. He assured that he will further partner with journalists for a more robust relationship and development in Abia State.

Delivering a public lecture on the topic “The CHALLENGES OF THE MEDIA IN COMMUNICATING GOVERNMENT POLICIES :THE COVID-19 EXAMPLE” , the Deputy Vice Chancellor, – (Academics), ABSU, Prof. Godwin Emezue stressed on the need for the media practitioners to add passion to their job and ensure their duties are discharged with vigour.

Professor Emezue pointed out the need to construct media messages well so as to get the needed attention by media audiences.
He further said that deploying accuracy and simplicity were the best way of communicating to the public, insisting that media writers should write to communicate while calling for the same zeal put in the campaign against the Covid-19 at its outbreak to be used for other government communications.

In her address earlier, the Chairman, Nigeria Union Journalists, State Information Chapel, Comrade Chidinma Enyinnaya informed that Press Week in journalists’ calendar is a period journalists use to review their duties and take stocks with a view to enhancing their service delivery. She lauded the Founder, Chima Anyaso Foundation for identifying with the Chapel and leading the lunch of the maiden magazine and prayed God to bless him and all others who graced the occasion.

The event which was chaired by a former Secretary to Abia State Government, Pastor Ralph Egbu attracted many dignitaries including the Secretary to Abia State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem,who was represented by the Deputy Director of Information, Office of the SSG, Comrade Uma Ibem Oke, HRH, Eze Emmanuel Okechukwu Onwubuariri, pioneer Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, immediate past Deputy T. C Chairman of Bende LGA, John Mark, Abia State Council, Comrade Ogbonnaya Iheaka, veteran journalist, Chika Nwabueze among many others.
