GOVERNOR IKPEAZU DECLARES MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT ONE-DAY STAKEHOLDERS SUMMIT OPEN.

The Governor of Abia State Dr Okezie lkpeazu ably represented by his Deputy Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu this afternoon declared open a one day stakeholders summit organised by the Ministry of Transport, with the Theme “Streamlining the Multiplicity of Taskforces in Abia State”.

The Governor thanked the ministry for coming up with this kind of summit which he said is long overdue because of the way Abians call on the government to checkmate the activities of all these illegal Task-Force team that go about disturbing innocent people on the road and constituting public nuisance which often times lead to road accidents and other mishaps. He used the medium to encourage the ministry of transport to swing into full action in curbing the excesses of these multiple Taskforce.

The summit is a long time planning which has come to reality, the urgent need to streamline the activities of multiple Taskforce cannot be over-emphasized to checkmate the illegal ones and identify the legally instituted ones as approved by the State government so as to help in increasing the State IGR. These are the words of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mrs Ijeoma Clara Okere, who concluded in saying that the summit is to have a family discussion with all the Stakeholders involved so as to find a suitable solution.

The Commissioner for Transport, Chief Godswill Uche Nwanoruo welcomed all the Stakeholders as the summit is one of his brain child to harmonise all the Taskforces in Abia State so as to help in tackling the rascality of some thugs who go around disturbing members of the public. The Commissioner promised Abians that there will be a single Taskforce team that will be generally accepted and identified.

The Member Representing Aba Central at the House of Assembly, Hon. Abraham Obah, the Chairman of Abia line, the Deputy Commander of TIMASS and many other security agencies were present during the summit.
