In the historical developments of a society, it is often believed that most societies could outlive their trace of migration mostly when they have dwelt in what the Holy book referred to as ‘Mount Horeb” for too long. This exaggerated assertion is a verisimilitude of what the people of Arochukwu State Constituency has faced from nebulous representations over the years such that their memories cannot remember what effective governance seems like.
The halseny above is the adverse effect of being administered by political leaders who lack a coherent political blueprints or compass that engenders impactful representation. Our people have lost the true taste of good governance because their tongue have been ostentatiously induced to the acerbic taste of bad leadership.
In this prime, the rescue mission is targeted at having a transparent, veracious, accountable, gender-inclusive and people-centred governance. This will be a relief for a people that have been overwhelmingly politically hypnotized and socially disadvantaged. It is a time to set a template for good governance. The mission is coming with sardine and bread to reintegrate and reinvigorate a race estranged by bad governance.
The presage of fortune imbued in this mission will breed an unprecedented economic advancement and flamboyant development that will cut across board, such that the five clans that constitutes Arochukwu State Constituency will experience the vibe of impactful policies. The collective and general cohesion of the people is therefore sacrosant to ensure that this mission is not aborted. The people are at a crossroads. It’s a moment of decision making and choices made will be directly proportional to post – elections events that will greet the people.
Ike Okorafor is an adept business mogul and an employee of US Department of Education. He is not one of those politicians who cling to power for self aggrandizement and wealth accumulation . His call to politics is an extension of his surreptitious magnanimity and charitable gestures which have been overtime enjoyed by the good people of Abam Onyerubi. There is no gainsaying that youths are at the driver seat of development and to ensure credibility and efficiency, electing Ike Okorafor will be a strict adherence to the call for a remedy to the compounding problems for which our political leaders have been complicit to. He is poised at studying the litany of problems facing his people and finding lasting solutions to them.
We live in a dynamic society and the collective conscience of the society is bound to change with time.” “Never feel comfortable where you’re now, get stuck, complacent, and stagnate in one spot; be always relevant, dynamic, and multi gifted. This is one of the rules of the 21st Century.” The dynamic nature of the society therefore requires the veracity of dynamic leaders who are versatile, sensitive to sustainable innovations and are ready to resist meddlesomeness from political overlords.
It must be noted that IOK has nothing to loose if not elected but the people has much to loose. His presence will be a centrifugal force of high acceleration, his dexterity and legal advocacy will avail much. The debate floor of the House of Assembly will tremble by the request and demand of a man who wishes his people well. It is a golden opportunity that should not be murdered on the altar of naivety, party fanatism and nepotism. We must therefore reason above party divides, discard the sentiments that have truncated our collective progress as a people, dispel all financial inducements from mouthwatering politicians. We can’t eat our cake and have it.
The world is moving scientifically and technologically and our children must trend on these aspect of global advancement. The days of jamborees where an elective office holder will complete a tenure in an office with no impacts on the people. It’s time to fly in the same altitude that marks a developing nation.
IOK’S compassion also heralded this mission knowing that the period of bad governance is likened to a moment of moral crisis cum irredeemable decay and those whose base aren’t fractured becomes a rallying point, perhaps to adhere strictly to the warnings of Dante where he noted that the darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis. Suffice it to say patriotism breeds obedience to call for service.
Just like Harold Laski, a former Professor of Harvard warned that “any time an intellectual has a chance to speak and yet remain silent, he contributes to the moral paralysis and intellectual barreness that grips the world”, IOK as an intellectual has vowed not to be silent and is ready to sacrifice tentatively his job at the United States to ensure his enclave is saved from the infestation of doom that looms.
So, blow the trumpet, echo it like the ocean waves, modulate it to the highest crescendo to the people of Abam, Arochukwu, Ihechiowa, Isu and Ututu. Let them know a new day has come. IOK movement is a palliative to cushion the effect of ‘ochichi nchigbu”
