……. A Case Study of Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency.
It’s a common believe that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands. In recent time, there has been uproar on social media regarding the outcome of previous General Elections which produced Representives of Isiala Ngwa South in the Abia State House of Assembly from different Political Blocs under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (P.D.P).
Zoning is simply a power sharing arrangement or formula within a political party for the sole aim of giving all sections or interest groups as represented in the party an inclusion or sense of belonging and avert any fear of marginalization.
There are four (4) Political Blocs in Isiala Ngwa South L.G.A which includes: OV-OV Political Bloc; Nvosi Political Bloc; Amobi Political Bloc and Mbutu Political Bloc. For the purpose of clarity, it will be necessary for us to carefully peruse the historical reality which represents the comprehensive analysis of P.D.P zoning from 1999 till date.
- 1999 – Elder Asuoha of OV-OV Bloc.
- 2003 – Elder Asuoha of OV-OV Bloc.
- 2007 – Rt. Hon Darlington Nwokocha of Nvosi Bloc.
- 2011 – Rt. Hon Darlington Nwokocha of Nvosi Bloc.
- 2015 – Rt. Hon Chikwendu Kalu of Amobi Bloc.
- 2019 – Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kalu of Amobi Bloc.
Base on the analysis above, party tickets have been given to each of the above mentioned Political Blocs for two (2) consecutive times (i.e 8yrs). It will be most considerate for all well meaning party faithfuls and stakeholders to judge this with clear and good conscience.
Above all, P.D.P in the true spirit of equity should as a matter of fact complete the circle with Mbutu Political Bloc and start again with OV-OV political bloc after 8yrs.
