As we get closer to the 2023 General Election and as we draw closer to May 7th 2022, a day set aside by the People’s Democratic party PDP to conduct it’s house of Assembly primaries in the 36 states of the federation, our “ROAD TO 2023” journey leaves Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency and makes a brief stop at Arochukwu State Constituency as we look at the Aspirants under the people’s Democratic party PDP, their chances of survival and their back bone.
Meet the Aspirants.
- Hon Augustine Emeka bonny( De lazz): De lazz as fondly called by his friends and admirers is a two time councilor in the Arochukwu legislative council and the present Leader of the Arochukwu legislative council, a business man and a politician, he is assumed to be in the good books of the Arochukwu PDP stakeholders and is a clear favourite to clinch the ticket. His from ihechiowa in Arochukwu LGA of Abia state.
2. Chief Ifeanyi Umere(UruAbam): The mercurial Leader as fondly called by his people is from Abam in Arochukwu LGA of Abia state, he is a politician, media personality, he is the leader of the Mercurial Media an engine room of the PDP led Administration in Abia state, he is the chief Liaison officer to Distinguished Senator T. A Orji Ochendo Global, according to information coming from St finbars road umuahia, Chief Umere is a clear favourite for that seat, Haven served Distinguished Senator T A Orji for 7 years and counting, one of the strong voices of Dr Okezie Victor Chibuikem Ikpeazu Administration in Abia state, the name umere is a household name from Arochukwu to Ukwa, he has all it takes to get the ticket of the PDP, from character to contact down to media activities Umere has never been found wanting.
Umere may likely get the ticket from the top and may likely be a consensus Candidate.
3. Hon Emmanuel Awah: Hon Awah is from Ihechiowa in Arochukwu LGA of Abia, he is the current Assistant financial Secretary of the People’s Democratic party PDP in Abia state, former Deputy Transition Committee Chairman Arochukwu LGA, under the leadership of Prince Dan kalu from February 2019 to December 2029.
It is rumored that he is the anointed candidate of the Member Representing Arochukwu Ohafia federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Hon Uko Ndukwe Nkole.
With the internal crisis in PDP Arochukwu LGA he may likely find it diffcult to clinch the ticket.
4. Hon Ijoma Ogbonnaya Chinedu: Hon Ijoma is from the Arochukwu part of the Arochukwu local government Area of the state, he is a business man and a politician, he is the current Deputy Leader Arochukwu legislative council.
According to sources around him, he has the blessing of the Rector Abia state college of Education Dr Philip Nto.
5. Prince Eric Also Kalu: Prince Eric Also Kalu was the candidate of the people’s Democratic party for 2019 Arochukwu State Constituency Election, he was whitewashed by the Member Representing Arochukwu State Constituency in the 7th Abia state House of Assembly Hon Mike Ukoha during the 2019 General Election, Prince Eric had many lingering issues during the 2019 General election ranging from a court cases, challenging his academic Qualifications.
After the 2019 General Election he went dark.
He will be going head to head with other 7 Aspirants to get the ticket of the PDP.
6. Norah Okafor: The strong Woman from ututu in Arochukwu LGA, a seasoned Journalist and a TV presenter.
Norah is coming with lot’s of experience and have so much to offer, having served as a correspondent for MCL in the Abia state House of Assembly, she is rooted with the activities and happenings at the plenary of the Abia state House of Assembly.
Norah is just like Ifeanyi Umere, both has the Blessings of the deciding factors in the PDP, both has much Media acceptance and will not be a push over.
Norah Okafor has Distinguished herself in so many areas and will not only represent the good people of Arochukwu State Constituency, will also protect the interest of the girl-child and Abia women.
Norah has never been found wanting.
7. Frances Olisa Ogbannaya: Popularly known as Tabitha, She is from the Aro part of Arochukwu LGA, a TV pundit, a journalist and a manger of skill, she is coming into the ring for the first time after watching from the stands for years, just like Umere and Norah she has a wide coverage in the media and will not be a push over so long as media is concern as we get closer to PDP primaries.
She will be banking on the support of Hon Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr Special Adviser to the Governor on General Dities to secure the ticket of the PDP in Arochukwu.
One of the challenges she will be facing ahead of the PDP primaries is her relationship with the PDP family in Arochukwu.
As a journalist, she has the experience due to job exposure and have in recent times attended Seminars of Nigeria female lawmakers organized in Abuja.
8. Ike Bishop okonkwo: Founder Save the future Group, a writer, an entertainer and a brand manager, he is an Estate developer, he is the brain behind Bishop court Estate Abuja.
Ikechukwu Bishop Okoronkwo is the Son of Mazi Dagogo Okoronkwo of atani in arochukwu LGA, he is seen as the spoil in the race to retire Mazi Mike Ukoha.
9. Chris Egbebu: A chartered Accountant by profession and a close Ally to the Deputy Governor of Abia state.
Chris is a regular in the contest of Arochukwu Election as he has always been a regular each Election year and 2023 will not be left out.
Chris will be banking on the full support of Abia state Deputy Governor Rt Hon Sir Ude Okochukwu to clinch the PDP ticket.
