The Chief of to the Governor of Abia State, Chief Okey Ahiwe has reiterated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s firm commitment towards sustaining industrial harmony between government and labour unions in the State.

Chief Ahiwe stated this when he received the Abia State Executive Council of Trade Union Congress which paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Wednesday April 27, 2022, led by the State Chairman, Comrade Ikechi Eneogwe. He commended the peaceful approach of TUC to resolving industrial issues and assured that Governor Ikpeazu would continue to relate with labour unions and their leaders as team members in the task of advancing development in Abia State. Chief Ahiwe accepted, on behalf of the Governor, the invitation by TUC to its Workers’ Day event billed for Sunday, May 1, 2022.

Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of TUC, Comrade Ikechi Eneogwe said that the State Executive of TUC had come to congratulate Chief Ahiwe on his appointment which he described as “good news” noting that the appointment had opened a “new window of partnership” between the TUC and Abia State government. He presented to the Chief of Staff a letter inviting Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to the event being organized by TUC to mark the 2022 Workers’ Day.

Also speaking, the immediate past Chairman of TUC Abia State and State Chairman, Association of Senior Civil Servants, Comrade Sunday Onwuma, congratulated Chief Ahiwe on his appointmentand expressed optimism that Governor Ikpeazu would continue to accord top priority attention to labour issues in the State.
