A sincere plead for support or a consultation with a genuine e interest has a great impact on people everywhere. The genuine acceptance from the people increases and boosts the productivity of such person. It also serves as an avenue for the led to know their leaders and for the leaders to listen and hear comments from the people they are going to lead, and to note the comments that are likely to bring progress in their administration.
For the past few weeks, Prof. Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne, a Governorship Aspirant in Abia State under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has been on a consultation tour designed to seek the support and votes of PDP delegates in all the seventeen LGAs to enable him be the party’s flagbearer in the coming 2023 general election. The tour which ended on Thursday 11th May, 2022, with Prof. Uche Ikonne’s Local Government Area (Isiala Ngwa North), was a great success.
The idea behind the consultation tour is: to seek the support and vote of delegates during the primary election and the total vote of Abians during the main election. Prof. Ikonne used the tour to map out his three points agenda for the state if elected governor. This include; education, agriculture and development of quality human capital. He promised that the state will witness another level of infrastructural development across all board as Abia youths will be engaged meaningfully.
Prof. Ikonne enumerated his great achievements in our two state-owned institutions. This Scholar, turned around the fortune of these institutions and increased the academic performance of the students. Infrastructurally, they witnessed a boost under him as VC and Rector. Under him, Abia State University moved from 93rd position to 27th out of entire 160 tertiary institutions in the country. He left the university as the second best performing university nationwide.
The ‘consultation tour’ train of Prof. Uche Ikonne which has visited all the seventeen Local Government Areas in the state with same massage ended gloriously at the LGA of the incoming governor.
The consultation tour witnessed the turnout of a mammoth crowd of Abians – young and old, statesmen, party faithfuls, traditional rulers and the clergy – who made welcome to the next governor of Abia State and lauded his dexterity in accepting this call to govern the state and his great achievements in our state institutions. Prof. Uche Ikonne thanked Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State for his industrial and infrastructural revolution, diversification of the state economy from a mono-economy to a macro-economy so as to fastrack development in the state.
Another high point of the consultation tour were the confirment of three chieftaincy titles from Aba North, Aba South and Isiala Ngwa North on Prof. Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne, to show their total acceptance of his candidature. The Ugwumba Ndi Abia, Ihe’ di Oha Nma and Ohazurimee Nke Mbu, is truly a man of grace and has come at the right time for a greater development in Abia State.
The implication of this is that come 2023 Governorship election in the state, Abians have collectively endorsed Prof. Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne to govern them so as to fastrack development in the state. There will be a new atmosphere in Abia State come 2023 and Abians will rejoice. This Scholar, Prof. Uche Ikonne is poised to deliver the dividends of good governance to Abians.
