The PDP frontline gubernatorial aspirant, Prof. Uchenna Eleazar Ikonne, earlier today in his Umuahia residence, received members of governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s body of Advisers.

In his introductory remark, the chairman and leader of the delegation, Hon Collins Nwakanma, informed the PDP guber frontliner that he had come with his colleagues, to show solidarity and to declare their unflinching support to his candidacy. To this end , he affirmed Prof. Ikonne as the consensus candidate of the body for the forthcoming Governorship election. Stressing that the body consists of members from all regions of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the three geo- political zones,the Abia South coordinator, Hon. Tony Mezie Nwaubani and coordinators of Abia North and Central, respectively,Engrs Ifeanyi Okorie and Austin Stephen, reiterated the zone’s complete support to the candidacy of Prof. Ikonne informing of the body’s resolve to stand by him “through thick and thin”. They ended by praying for God’s divine protection and wisdom upon the candidate.

Also in their separate speeches ,Princess Glad Apugo-Osoagbaka who spoke for the women Advisers and Mrs Joy Nwokocha who represented the Abia Diasporas, spoke glowingly of Professor Ikonne’s sterling qualities and pledged their loyalty to his noble ambition, adding ,with optimism, that the body will look forward to become part of the government after the expected victory in 2023.

Equally in their goodwill messages Mr Tunji Jeromi the Adviser on Ethnic Harmony and Hon P. C . Mba PhD , a veteran politician and renowned technocrat expressed confidence in the person of Professor Ikonne who they attest to his forthrightness and competence even as the former V. C. of Absu. They therefore restated the body’s support for him.
The visibly elated candidate, Prof. Ikonne, in his response, expressed profound appreciation to the body for the honour given to him and promised to make the body and state proud by consolidating on the peaceful atmosphere the incumbent governor has created. He enjoined the Advisers, who he identified as “eminent personalities”and “the human resources of the Government” to reach out to Abians with “informed opinions, about him, order than biased assessment that is predicated on domestic sympathy”, urging that all hands should be on deck to ensure that his ambition to become the Governor of Abia state in 2023 is actualised. Furthermore, he assures that his administration will run an all inclusive government where every Abian will feel a sense of belonging regardless of “their ideosyncracy and different background”.

In his vote of thanks, Dr Chinedum Elechi, DG Uche Ndi Abia campaign organization, thanked the body for their visit and implored them to remain resolute in their support for Professor Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne.
Also present at the meeting include Chief Stanley Ojigbo a former Commissioner in Abia state and member of Uche Ndi Abia campaign organization. The secretary of the body Chief Imo Mascot Obike and other members of the body were present.
