The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Okey Ahiwe has described the emergence of Prof. Uche Ikonne as the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the next year’s general election as a big blessing to Ntigha people, Isiala Ngwa North LGA and the state at large.
Chief Ahiwe who made his feelings known at his countryhome, Umuire Eziama Ntigha in Isiala Ngwa North LGA while addressing PDP stakeholders in Ntigha, stressed the need for unity of purpose in other to realize the mandate of Prof. Ikonne at the polls.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor while describing Ntigha and Agburuike Nsulu people as brother’s further called on them to support the candidacy of Prof. Uche Ikonne as well as see the inherent opportunities in supporting and ensuring that the next Governor emerges from Isiala Ngwa North LGA.
In their separate speeches, a former Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr John Chikezie, Justice K.C Nwankpa (rtd), Chief Fidelis Nwachukwu, Chief Maurice Ucheji and Mr Stanley Nwachukwu disclosed that Ntigha people are at home with the candidacy of Prof. Uche Ikonne and are ready to work towards ensuring his victory at the forthcoming general elections..
They further used the medium to call on all eligible voters across the state to get involved actively and obtain their permanent voter cards to enable them exercise their franchise at the polls.
Correspondent Ugochukwu Ahuchogu reports that the stakeholders later welcomed Prof. Uche Ikonne formally to Ntigha land at the palace of the Chairman, Abia State Traditional Rulers Council and traditional ruler of Eziama Ntigha in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Eze J.N Nwabeke where he was decorated by the traditional rulers of Ntigha as a symbol of acceptance while the member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, Chief Okey Igwe, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince C.O Enweremadu, his Works counterpart, Elder Bob Ogu, Deputy Chairman of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Chief Chuks Amaike among other notable personalities witnessed the event.
