A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress who served as Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly between 2001-2007, Rt. Hon Stanley Ohajuruka, has described Professor Uche Ikonne as a leader with uncommon traits, saying he represents the face and the hope of a better Abia.
Sir Ohajuruka made the sterling remarks when he played host to the PDP Abia Governorship candidate in next year’s general elections Professor Ikonne, where he took time to recall his records of achievements as an academic, and stated that Abians would have nothing to regret if Professor Ikonne is elected as Governor come 2023.
The former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly recalled his several dealings with the Erudite Professor, as well as his long-standing relationship, while urging him to count on his support anyday, anytime.
Responding, the highly elated Professor Uche Ikonne, thanked Sir Ohajuruka for his lavished display of love, reception and hospitality. He showered encomiums on the former number one Abia lawmaker, whom he described, not only as a true democrat, but a man of principle, recalling his numerous achievements both as the speaker of Abia Assembly and as a federal Lawmaker, adding that his visit is in line with his consultations with critical stakeholders and opinion moulders in the Abia Project, assuring that he would continue to consult with him and others in the development of the state despite party differences.
Contributing, the woman leader of the community, Chief Love Ezebuiro thanked Professor Uche Ikonne and his team for the visit, and further informed the Abia PDP Governorship candidate of the preparations to ensure his landslide victory and made case for the inclusion of the people of the area in the scheme of things when elected.
Speaking at the visit, a former Abia Federal lawmaker, and a Former Chieftain of the APC, Rt Hon Uzo Azubuike thanked the host, Rt. Hon Stanley Ohajuruka and the entire Afara Ukwu community for their warm reception and words of assurance, maintaining that Professor Uche Ikonne has all it takes to turn around the fortunes of the state, and assuring that if elected, he will not disappoint Abians.
The visit witnessed the presence of the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Rt. Hon. C.O Enweremadu, Engr. OAU Ebeorgu, Chief Engr.
