On Tuesday 2nd of May 2023 Abians woke up with a rumor of a plan in place to Impeach the speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya orji, the alarm came from the former Deputy Chairman of Bende LGA Hon Promise Uzoma Okoro where he pointed out that one member of the house from Umuahia North, Isiala Ngwa, osisioma LGA where those behind where those championing the impeachment of Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya orji.
Around 10:15am the News of the Impeachment of the speaker of Abia state house of Assembly was made public by Mr Obinna Don Norman a Journalist of repute, who doubles as the Chairman African Democratic Party ADC followed with video of the Impeachment proceedings of Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya orji.
In the video the motion was moved by the member representing Osisioma Ngwa North state constituency Rt Hon Bishop Kennedy Njoku and was seconded by member representing Isuikwuato state Constituency Hon Emeka Okoroafor.

The Deputy speaker of the state House of Assembly Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu led the plenary that overseed the election of a new speaker in the person of Hon Chukwudi Apugo of Umuahia East state constituency, the motion for his emergence was moved by the member representing obingwa west state constituency Hon Thomas Nkoro and was seconded by Hon Okey Phillip Igwe member representing Umunneochi state constituency.
All these processes took place outside the premises of the Abia state House of Assembly, at an unknown location.
Around 3pm the suspended Speaker Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji led 6 members of the house including him 7 to plenary at the state Assembly complex located at the ogurube layout Umuahia.
The plenary started with an opening prayer by the member representing Obingwa west state constituency Hon Solomon Akpulonu.
All house rituals were conducted and the Impeachment saga continued.
Member representing Umuahia south state constituency Hon Jerry Uzosike raised a motion for the suspension of the members who were seen in the video of the purported impeachment of the speaker and he gave the names as follows:

Hon Solomon Akpulonu countered the motion and said those who appeared in the video should be suspended and not those who signed the notice as some are not even in the country and some signatures were also not correct or signed correct, Hon Abraham Obah seconded the motion by Hon Jerry but the Speaker agreed with Hon Solomon and the House suspended those who were involved in the video, while the plenary was going on Hon Emeka Okoroafor walked in and his sins were forgiven and his name was deleted in the list, the house suspended the following:

The House suspended the Deputy speaker Rt Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu and voted Hon Mandela Obasi as Deputy speaker and was sworn in immediately.
Today Abia state House of Assembly has two factions, the outside complex faction led by Rt Hon Chukwudi Apugo as Speaker and Ifeanyi Uchendu as Deputy speaker.
The other faction has Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji as Speaker and Rt Hon Mandela Obasi as Deputy speaker.
The former special Adviser or the Governor Of Abia state & Member elect for Obingwa West state constituency Hon Erondu Uchenna Erondu has been accused of being the brain behind the commotion at the Abia state house of Assembly, while some quarters in the House says the problem is centered on money.
The faction of the House led by Rt Hon Chinedum Enyyinnaya orji as the speaker also set up a committee to look into the activities of the Joint Allocation Account Committee (JAAC).
One faction was in the house, the other at a guest house, the two factions, One faction sworn in their speaker with a lawyer, while the other faction sworn in their Deputy speaker with the clerk of the state Assembly.
