The good people of Nkata ibeku today was thrown into agony with the death of a 13 year of Queen Esther ukata who lost her life due to the heavy down pour today.
The rain which started this after, took the life of this young girl as she was returning from an errand.
An eye witness report from a native of Nkata Ibeku Mr Ugochukwu Odionyenfe, reteriated that this is not the first time such incident is happening at (Ube Teh) Nkata ibeku. He informed our correspondent that in 2009, the family of Mr Chinedu Ebogu lost their 7year old son to the unfortunate erosion menace. All effort by the members of the community to reach the then administration of Sen. TA Orji and the immediate past administration fail on deaf ears.
He stated that during the build up to the 2023 general election, that Senatorial candidate of labour party Rt Hon Darlington Nwokocha came to Nkata Ibeku and promised the community that if they vote for him, that he will personally attract the attention of the federal government in correcting the menace.
Continuing, Mr. Odionyenfe informed our correspondent that the community are in dare need of the attention of the state government, led by an agent of change Dr Alex Chioma Otti OFR to come to their rescue to avert such occurrence again.
He called on the member elect for Umuahia East State constituency Hon Austin Okezie Nmeregini to see this as a challenge as his immediate constituency are being ravaged by this ugly erosion menace. He reminded him that Nkata Ibeku voted massively for Labor party and it’s candidates because they believed that having been abandoned by previous administrations, the labour party appeared to be their saving grace reason they massively voted for them.
There is high expectation among the residents of Nkata, the location of this erosion menace, that the problem will be solved in no distant time basically because of the quality of the leaders who won election under the Labour party. Dr Alex Otti for one is known for his people-oriented inclination over the years, providing huge road and other infrastructure even as a private citizen. Secondly, Darlington Nwokocha already has scores of demand-driven projects which he completed in Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency. And the member-elect Hon. Austin Okezie Ugolee, as well as the House of Reps member-elect, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, have shown to have empathy hence the wide-held opinion that it is only a matter of time before this menace is taken care of once and for all.
