The Member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Rowland Dennis Chinwendu has called on his constituents to disregard the rumours making the rounds over an alleged $3,000 inducement from Governor Alex Otti to Members of the Abia 8th House prior to their inauguration to enable Labor Party produce principal officers of the House.
Hon. Chinwendu who disclosed this during an enlarged press conference held in Umuahia, described such a story as not only false but malicious and misleading while maintaining that nobody gave him any money.
In his words, “The Governor invited us to his House, talked to us on the need for Hon. Emeruwa to emerge as Speaker. So, if anybody collected money from his Excellency, I, Chinwendu didn’t collect money from the Governor.”
One can easily recall that the issue of $3,000 cash inducement has been trending on social media space in Abia as it was alleged that the members of the 8th Assembly before their inauguration went to the Governor’s house to eat, drink and collect take home envelopes to the tune of $3,000 to allow Rt. Hon. Emmanuel IHUOMA Emeruwa who is the choice of the Governor to emerge as the Speaker of the 8th Assembly.
