……… Adopt reversed House rules.
The Abia State House of Assembly during plenary on Monday, adopted the Reversed House rules.
This followed the adoption of the motion moved by the Majoriry Leader and member representing Arochukwu State Constituency Hon. Uchenna Okoro, seconded by the Chief Whip And member representing Umuahia South State Constituency Hon. Emeka Obioma.
What it means is that going forward, the reversed House standing Order 2023, would provide an Order which the House would henceforth use as a working document cum instrument for members.
According to our source at the State Assembly part of the rules amended includes a first timer to be speaker and the principal officers of the House to emerge through a voting process and not nomination by the party.
Also during plenary, the House also entertained the second reading of HAB 1, which is a Bill for the conversion of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba to University of Aba which was committed to the House Committee of the whole to be deliberated on another legislative date.
Meanwhile, the House later adjourned plenary to reconvene on Tuesday, 24th July 2023 by 10 am prompt.
