Ifeatu Onejeme was appointed finance Commissioner in 2022.

Gov Chukwuma Soludo has accepted his resignation citing personal and family circumstances.

However, speculations have emerged suggesting that Onejeme’s resignation may be linked to a recent fallout with the governor over allegations of third-party interference in state government finances and multiple pseudo-appropriations.

It has been alleged that allies and relatives of the governor have been using proxies to divert state funds through various means, including excessive taxes and questionable projects, for personal gain.

This controversy has also led to the resignation of Richard Madiebo, Chairman of the Anambra Internal Revenue Service (AiRS), further highlighting the alleged refusal of both officials to be involved in these questionable practices.
