…. Reaffirms Commitment to Democratic Ideals

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has addressed recent speculations from certain members of the ruling party in Abia State, alleging the collapse of the YPP in Bende and the defection of its leader, Dr. Chima Anyaso. The YPP categorically denies these claims, asserting they are baseless and unfounded.

Dr. Chima Anyaso remains unwavering in his commitment to the ideals and principles of the YPP. There has been no defection or collapse of the party in Bende, and the YPP continues to stand strong, dedicated to serving the people and upholding democratic values.

Dr. Anyaso calls on those spreading these falsehoods to cease their irresponsible actions, which only serve to mislead the public and create unnecessary confusion.

The YPP in Bende recognizes that politics is primarily for the development of our communities and the betterment of the lives of our people. Therefore, the party unequivocally supports Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu in his role as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and representative of Bende, as well as Dr. Alex Otti, the Executive Governor of Abia State.

This support does not signify an abandonment of the YPP’s duties as the major opposition party in the state. Instead, it highlights that the focus now should be on leadership and governance. When the time for politics comes, the YPP will engage accordingly, equipped with a deeper understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people. For now, Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu and Dr. Alex Otti have the YPP’s support.

Dr. Anyaso also calls on the ruling parties at both the state and federal levels to exercise greater responsibility in nurturing and allowing opposition voices to thrive. Democracy is strengthened when diverse perspectives are respected. Attempts to undermine opposition parties weaken the democratic process and erode public trust.

The YPP, as a leading opposition party in Abia State, remains steadfast in its mission to bring about positive change and development for the people of Bende and Abia North. The party will continue to work tirelessly to represent the interests of its constituents and uphold the democratic values that bind the nation together.

The YPP thanks its supporters and the people of Bende for their continued trust and confidence. Together, we will build a better future for our community.
