The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has broken its silence on the recent incident involving Nigeria’s Super Eagles, who were stranded at a Libyan airport for several hours under concerning conditions.

According to CAF, it has been in communication with both the Libyan and Nigerian authorities after being informed of the situation. The Nigerian team, along with their technical staff, was allegedly directed by Libyan officials to land at the airport, where they subsequently faced significant delays.

In response, CAF has referred the matter to its Disciplinary Board for a thorough investigation. The football governing body emphasized that appropriate actions will be taken against any individuals or entities found to have violated CAF’s Statutes and Regulations.

CAF reassured that it is committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all participating teams in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers.
