A chieftain of Peoples Democratic party,PDP in Abia State who is a grassroot mobilizer, Chief Israel Amanze has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic party,PDP to further compound the woes of mass exodus of chieftains leaving the party in recent times.
Amanze who was the immediate past Programme Manager of Abia State Agriculture Development Programme,ADP added that he was not resigning from PDP to immediately join other political parties but will rather wait to see unfolding political development in the State which will ultimately determine where else to go.
Chief Israel Amanze,a renowned agriculturist made this known during a meeting with members of his Abia Grassroots Movements , Tuesday in his office, Umuahia,where he officially informed them his decision to resign from PDP.
In a related development, Abia Grassroots Movement members unanimously resolved to resign with their founder and leader from PDP.
The immediate past Programme Manager of Abia ADP was surprised with this uncommon solidarity, however assured them that he will not disappoint when he eventually decides where else to go.
According to Chief Israel Amanze,” I decided to resign,to evaluate the political developments in the state in order to have a better understanding of which political party to embrace at the end of the day ”
Chief Amanze populaly called Izybest further stated that his letter of resignation is ready and will soon be handed over to his Ward Chairman between today and tomorrow.
He promised to consult Abia Grassroots Movements whenever he made up his mind on where else he is going to, adding that the party he will pitch tent with, will be one that will be beneficial to the group.
Chief Amanze who noted that Abia Grassroots Movement was formed in 2010,14 years ago as farmers organization however expressed optimism that the group membership strength that risen up to 33,000 as at last year,drawn from the 17 LGA’s of the state,but stressing that the majority are from Isiala Ngwa South,North and Osisioma.
The former Commissioner for Agriculture noted with satisfaction that Abia Grassroots Movement had in the past years supported PDP government but having studied the recent political manoeuvering in the state,he decided to resign his membership of the party in order to think, evaluate his next political move.
Chief Israel Amanze therefore called on his numerous supporters and members of Abia Grassroots Movement to exercise patient and await further directive while promising to pitch tent with political party that will cater for the interest of their members when he eventually made up his mind.
In his brief remarks,the State Chairman of Abia Grassroots Movement,Engr David Bonie Umeh said that the group will be resigning en masse with their founder,Chief Israel Amanze saying that the organization has benefitted a lot through the magniminity of their founder and leader.
“Abia Grassroots Movement is a farmers organization,we have benefitted a lot from it,we are his followers,as he was resigning,we are also resigning with him” Umeh assured.
He further pointed out that,the name,Izybest rings a bell , adding that this prompted the reason why he was nominated for Oke oji Abia award in 2012 because of his invaluable contributions to the growth and development of Agriculture in the state.
As for a retired Permanent Secretary in Abia State,Sir Kingsley Ogba Nwokoro said that he has known Izybest for years as a creative thinker who succeeds in whatever he puts his hand on, while commending him what he is doing to give the group a well known identity in the State.
