The Zamfara State Government has rejected the recent appointment of Mrs. Keshinro Ismaila as a federal permanent secretary by President Bola Tinubu. The state government argues that Mrs. Ismaila is not an indigene of Zamfara and therefore cannot legally represent the state’s people.

Contrary to the state government’s claim, PREMIUM TIMES reports that Mrs. Ismaila hails from Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara. Her grandparents were born to a prominent Christian family in Tsafe town. The name “Keshinro” in her name is from her Yoruba husband.

Despite the state’s rejection, local residents affirm her Zamfara origin, emphasizing her deep-rooted family ties to the region. The controversy over her appointment highlights ongoing debates about state indigene status and representation in federal appointments.
