Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has delivered a strong message to youths in the Southeast region, urging them to resist calls for protests against the government. Speaking during the grand finale of the All Progressive Congress (APC) campaign for local government elections in Abakaliki, the governor accused proponents of such protests of being enemies of the nation intent on destabilizing the federal government.

Governor Uzodinma, who also chairs the Southeast Governors’ Forum, emphasized that there is no justification for protests against the current administration. He asserted that both the federal government and President Bola Tinubu are diligently addressing the economic challenges facing Nigerians, urging patience and support from the populace.

“In our path to growth, our adversaries seek to disrupt the national government,” Governor Uzodinma stated, addressing the youths directly. “They will approach you to protest. Ask them where their own children are. Why should you be the ones protesting and what would you be protesting against?”

Asserting solidarity with the federal government and President Tinubu, he declared, “This government is our government, the government of President Bola Tinubu is our government. So nobody from Southeast will protest. We are not aggrieved, we have hope.”

Acknowledging the economic difficulties faced by citizens, Uzodinma assured the public of ongoing efforts by the presidency to alleviate hardships through infrastructure development and increased food security initiatives.

Joining him, the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, rallied Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s efforts aimed at improving living standards across the country.

“I call on every Nigerian to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and the Federal Government in their concerted efforts, programs, and actions aimed at ensuring improved living standards for Nigerians,” Ganduje affirmed. He expressed confidence that these efforts would soon yield positive results that all Nigerians would benefit from.

The call to eschew protests comes amid growing economic challenges and social unrest in various parts of Nigeria, highlighting ongoing tensions between the government and dissenting voices advocating for change. Governor Uzodinma’s remarks underscore a broader narrative of stability and continuity espoused by the ruling APC amidst calls for reform and resistance.
