The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is under fire from Nigerians after a screenshot surfaced on social media showing that the commission’s website charges users in US dollars for services related to NIN modifications.

A Twitter user, Akwa Ibom 1st Son (@ukocarter), shared an image of the NIMC website displaying charges for various modification services, including changes of name, address, phone number, and date of birth, all priced at 20.78 USD.

The tweet, which has garnered significant attention, questions why Nigerian citizens are being charged in a foreign currency for services provided by a domestic agency. This has sparked widespread criticism and demands for an explanation from NIMC.

The public outcry highlights concerns over transparency and accessibility, with many arguing that such practices are unfair and burdensome for local users. NIMC has yet to respond to the growing backlash or provide a justification for the pricing in foreign currency.
