Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has invalidated the impeachment and subsequent removal of Philip Shuaibu from his position as Deputy Governor of Edo State.
The ruling, delivered by Justice Omotosho, declared that Shuaibu’s dismissal was contrary to legal provisions and therefore invalid. The court ordered his immediate reinstatement as deputy governor, restoring him to his former position.
Furthermore, the court directed the Inspector General of Police to reinstate the security details of the deputy governor, ensuring that Shuaibu’s protection and official duties can continue uninterrupted.
This verdict marks a notable development in Edo State’s political landscape, reaffirming the judiciary’s role in upholding the rule of law and protecting constitutional offices.
