The recently reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, announced on Friday that he is already an unofficial member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In an appearance on Arise TV’s morning show, Shaibu stated that the only reason he has not formally left the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State is because he has not officially severed ties with the party.

“I am already an unofficial member of the APC,” Shaibu said. He further explained his support for the APC governorship candidate in Edo, highlighting his lack of alignment with the PDP.

“In PDP now, everybody can support whoever they like. On the issue of supporting a candidate, the constitution guarantees that you can support who you like and you can belong to any political party,” he added.

Shaibu’s comments come amid ongoing political tensions in Edo State, as he reaffirms his commitment to the APC while still holding his position within the PDP framework.
