The First Lady of Abia State, Mrs Priscilla Otti has reaffirmed the present administration’s commitment to empowering women and addressing societal issues including inequality and gender-based violence.

Speaking at the Abiriba Presbyterian Women’s Wing (TAPWW) International August Conference in Abiriba, Ohafia LGA, Mrs. Otti highlighted the importance of using the annual conference to tackle harmful practices against women.

The wife of the Governor represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Mrs. Matilda Anyamele, emphasized the conference’s role as a crucial platform for discussing women’s issues.

The State First Lady encouraged participants to transition from ceremonial gatherings to actionable community projects and empowerment programs that can yield tangible benefits.

She further urged Abia women to seize the conference as an opportunity to gain skills and knowledge in various trades and crafts, aiming to elevate their economic status and contribute to broader state development.

In his goodwill message, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade, Commerce, and Industry, Chief Nwaka Inem praised women as pivotal agents of change and lauded the conference’s role in fostering rural development.

In her welcome address, the National President of TAPWW, Mrs. Ezinne Ada Obasi expressed gratitude to Mrs Otti for her examplary leadership style and pledged their continued support for the administration of Dr. Alex Otti.

The conference, which included awards, goodwill messages, and cultural performances, saw participation from various distinguished guests.
