Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor, widely known as “De Ultimate Commander,” has called for a focus on the development of Abia State rather than premature political moves.
The sports legend and President of the United Abia Artistes and Patriots Forum (UAAP) addressed recent comments made by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu. In a video, Kalu suggested that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), would take over Abia from the Labour Party in the 2027 elections.
In response, Offor urged Kalu to set aside political ambitions for now and concentrate on building a strong developmental relationship with Governor Alex Otti. “This is not the time to create distractions or stir unnecessary conflicts. The focus should be on Abia’s progress,” Offor remarked.
Speaking at a UAAP press conference held days earlier, Offor emphasized the importance of unity, urging all opposition parties to collaborate with the governor for the overall good of the state. “We’ve never had it this good in Abia’s history. The state’s narrative has shifted positively, and we must keep it that way,” Offor stated.
He concluded by urging Kalu to prioritize his legislative duties and ensure he brings tangible dividends of democracy to Abia State. “Both Governor Otti and Hon. Kalu have done commendable work, but now is not the time for politics—it’s a time for leadership,” Offor advised.
