Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has declared that no one can accuse him of corruption during his tenure as a public office holder. Speaking on Thursday at the Michael Okpara Leadership Lecture and Award 2024, held at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, Governor Uzodinma emphasized the importance of integrity in public service.

During his address, Uzodinma urged public officeholders to live within their legitimate means and avoid engaging in corrupt practices. He attributed the rampant corruption in Nigeria to the inordinate quest for wealth and lack of discipline among leaders.

In his lecture titled, “Service Above Others; Lessons from the Leadership Philosophy of Michael Okpara,” the governor called on political leaders to emulate the legacy of the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria, Michael Okpara, to build a more prosperous nation.

Governor Uzodinma also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects in Imo State, particularly the rehabilitation of the Egbema power plant. He announced that the project is expected to be completed and commissioned in the first quarter of 2025, which will provide 24-hour electricity to all areas of the state.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Otu; Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Patricia Obila; former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan; and both past and serving lawmakers, among others.
