Abuja, Nigeria –

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the allocation of N108 billion to assist Nigerian states in managing natural disasters. As part of this initiative, each state will receive N3 billion to support their disaster response efforts.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, which is currently grappling with severe flooding due to the failure of the Alau Dam water channels, confirmed the receipt of N3 billion from the Federal Government. This financial aid is intended to mitigate the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the state.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, while addressing the issue, affirmed the President’s commitment to partnering with the states in tackling disaster-related challenges. He stated, “The President has shown his zeal, willingness, and commitment to partner with the states towards addressing these issues. Recently, he approved the release of N3 billion to each state of the federation to address some of these challenges, so that all parts of the federation should have buy-in and belonging.”

The funds are expected to provide immediate relief and facilitate long-term disaster management strategies across the country.
