Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has firmly responded to comments made by former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, assuring that no one can incite unrest in Bauchi.

Speaking during a meeting with members of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) on Tuesday, Mohammed stressed the strength of unity in Bauchi. He said, “We are together; nobody can put fire in Bauchi. We have volumes of water that will quench the fire – even my friend (Wike) that said so, it is because he is annoyed. But it is not personal.”

Governor Mohammed reaffirmed his friendship with Wike, while emphasizing that leadership comes with responsibility. “My friend is my friend, and my job is my job, leadership is leadership,” he stated.

Praising the NWC’s visit to Bauchi, Mohammed expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to maintain stability and peace, noting that the party’s legacy remains a strong foundation for progress in Nigeria. “This unsolicited visit by the NWC shows that in Nigeria, we have hope, and we are connected by the value and the stability of the PDP for peace and stability in our party and in our country.”

Governor Mohammed acknowledged the challenges faced by political parties, including internal crises, but stressed the importance of adhering to the rule of law. “Yes, none of the parties is isolated in terms of crisis here and there. Crises are there, that is why leadership is also there. That is why we have to take the bull by the horn to discuss and look at the constitution of our party, PDP.”

He further called for unity, respect for diversity, and prioritizing the party’s interests. “We must meet and close ranks especially when the issue has to do with our party, the PDP.”

Highlighting the PDP’s achievements, Mohammed noted, “Our party has pedigree and most of the development in this country was done by the PDP. When PDP left, nothing was done.”
