Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has revealed that a concerted effort is underway by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governors and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to make leadership changes within the party. According to Governor Mohammed, discussions are ongoing to have the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, step down from his position.

The plan reportedly seeks to replace Damagum with a candidate from the North Central region of Nigeria. This move is seen as part of a broader strategy to restructure the party’s leadership dynamics.

Additionally, Governor Mohammed disclosed that there is a focused effort to help Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State, reclaim control of the PDP structure in Rivers. This leadership reshuffle comes as the party continues to navigate internal challenges and chart its path forward ahead of upcoming political developments.

The National working Committee was led by the National Legal Adviser of the Party Kamaldeen Ajibade.

The PDP leadership is yet to officially comment on these deliberations.
