The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted media reports claiming that the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, is currently in their custody.

In a statement issued on September 18, 2024, by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity, the EFCC clarified that the former governor is not being held at any of their facilities.

The Commission reiterated that Bello, who has been declared wanted for alleged money laundering charges amounting to N80.2 billion, remains at large with an active warrant for his arrest.

The EFCC urged the public to disregard the false reports circulating in the media and confirmed that efforts to apprehend the former governor are still ongoing.
