In a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) outlined 15 charges of financial misconduct against former Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku.

According to the EFCC, counts one and two allege that Ishaku and his co-defendant, Yero, illicitly withdrew a total of N1.10 billion between August 25, 2015, and March 21, 2016. Counts three and four accuse the duo of dishonestly diverting N1.1 billion in state funds for personal gain during the same period.

Count five centers on the alleged misappropriation of N193 million between January 2019 and April 2021, while count six implicates the defendants in the misappropriation of N650 million during that same period. In count seven, Ishaku and Yero are accused of misappropriating N170 million for personal use.

Additionally, the EFCC accuses the defendants of misappropriating N201.9 million between January 2019 and April 2021, and another N132.1 million during the same period.

Counts 10 and 11 detail the alleged misappropriation of N3.3 billion and N639.4 million from July 2019 to February 2021. In count 12, the EFCC claims that Ishaku and Yero misappropriated N993 million between September 2016 and February 2021. The defendants also face accusations of misappropriating N90 million between May and December 2015.

In the final two charges, counts 14 and 15, Ishaku stands alone as the defendant, accused of misappropriating N23 million and N761.3 million from October 2016 to January 2018.

The case continues as the EFCC presses ahead with its investigation.
