Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno has appointed his daughter, Helen Eno-Obareki, as the Acting First Lady of the State following the death of his wife, Patience Eno.

Eno made the announcement on Friday during a condolence visit by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and other dignitaries in Uyo.

Eno said Helen would assume the duties of the First Lady, ensuring that the initiatives championed by his late wife, particularly the Golden Initiative For All, continue.

This was made known in a post on X by Imran Muhammad on Saturday, October 5.

The post reads: “The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has designated his daughter, Helen Eno-Obareki, to serve as the Acting First Lady of the state in the wake of the passing of his wife, Pastor Patience Eno.

“On Friday, the governor shared the news during a condolence visit that included Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, along with other esteemed guests in Uyo.

“Eno expressed that his daughter would assume the responsibilities of the First Lady, guaranteeing the ongoing support of the office and the initiatives launched by his late wife, especially the Golden Initiative For All.

“He said, ‘To maintain the Office of the First Lady and carry forward my late wife’s work, I present our daughter, Helen, to continue the duties of the office. She will work closely with the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare”.
