The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the rescheduled dates for its congresses in Abia and Ebonyi States. This follows a previous postponement due to operational challenges.
In a letter signed by the party’s Acting National Chairman, H.E. Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum, and National Secretary, Sen. Samuel N. Anyanwu, the new dates are as follows:
1. Ward Congresses to elect Ward Executives and Ad-Hoc Delegates — Wednesday, October 16, 2024
2. LGA Congresses to elect LGA Executives and National Delegates — Saturday, October 19, 2024
3. State Congress to elect State Executive Officers — Wednesday, October 23, 2024
The letter also noted that National Delegates to the Party’s Special National Convention will be elected during the LGA Congresses. The PDP assured INEC of its compliance with Section 82(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 in notifying the Commission of these developments.
