Hon. Alex Ikwecheghi, a Federal House of Representatives member representing Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, has come under fire following allegations of assaulting a Bolt driver at his residence.
In a video circulating on social media, Ikwecheghi is allegedly seen slapping and verbally harassing the driver, who had arrived at the lawmaker’s residence for a delivery. Witnesses claim there was no provocation from the driver. Furthermore, Ikwecheghi reportedly threatened to “kill [the driver] without a trace.”
The incident has sparked outrage among constituents and online viewers, who view the lawmaker’s actions as a breach of responsibility and an abuse of power. Many have expressed disappointment, stating that a public official should act as a protector, not as an aggressor, towards citizens.
Calls for an investigation into the incident are growing as the public seeks accountability for the lawmaker’s alleged actions.
