Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has denied having any personal crisis with Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, amidst ongoing political tensions in the state.
Speaking during a media engagement in Abuja, Wike clarified that despite public speculation, he maintains no direct conflict with the Rivers State governor. “I don’t have any crisis with Siminalayi Fubara,” Wike stated plainly.
Addressing recent concerns over the possibility of federal intervention in Rivers, Wike expressed strong opposition to any declaration of a state of emergency in the state. He said, “If Mr. President had called me before declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State, I wouldn’t have agreed.”
The statement comes in the wake of prolonged political unrest and a power tussle involving lawmakers and the executive arm in Rivers State. Wike, a former governor of the state and influential figure in its politics, has been widely perceived as a central player in the ongoing conflict.
