Prominent media personalities Rufai Oseni and Dr. Reuben Abati have weighed in on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu, interpreting the move as a significant political shift and a signal of capitulation in the ongoing Rivers political crisis.
During an Arise TV broadcast, Rufai Oseni expressed disappointment, suggesting that Fubara’s actions reveal the true nature of Nigerian politics. “The same Fubara who said his mind has left the place has gone to visit President Tinubu. Does this show you that all politicians are the same? It’s just about power,” Rufai remarked. “A lot of people thought that Fubara was going to stand his ground.”
Echoing Rufai’s sentiment, Dr. Reuben Abati offered a more pointed interpretation of the visit. “I want to imagine that the reason Fubara visited President Tinubu again is to remind the president that he is now a good boy o, and he is not fighting anybody,” Abati said. “He has even gone to beg Wike o, the lord and master of Rivers State politics.”
The comments come amid speculations that Governor Fubara is attempting to reconcile with his political adversary and predecessor, Nyesom Wike, and realign with the center of power in a bid to maintain stability in Rivers State.
