Two High Courts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have issued separate summonses to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Deputy Senate Chief Whip Onyekachi Nwaebonyi over serious allegations brought forward by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central.
The cases, which involve accusations of sexual harassment, defamation, and the violation of fundamental human rights, were filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan, prompting legal actions against the two senior lawmakers.
In suit number FCT/HC/CV/754/2025, Justice Abubakar Idris Kutigi of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted the senator leave to serve court processes, including the writ of summons, on Senate President Akpabio both personally and in his official capacity.
The court proceedings are expected to attract significant public attention given the high-profile nature of the individuals involved and the gravity of the claims.
As of now, no official response has been made public by Akpabio or Nwaebonyi regarding the allegations.
