Exclusive: FG Approves Recruitment of 30,150 Personnel into Civil Defence, Immigration, Fire and Correctional Services

The Federal Government has approved the recruitment of 30,150 personnel across the four paramilitary services under the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), according to a status report dated June 3, 2025.

The report, addressed to the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission and signed by the Secretary of the Board, Mallam A.A. Ibrahim, indicates that the approval also includes the recruitment of 209 personnel into the CDCFIB Secretariat.

The recruitment breakdown across the various services is as follows:

1. Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) – 11,600 personnel

2. Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) – 3,150 personnel

3. Federal Fire Service (FFS) – 5,000 personnel

4. Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) – 10,000 personnel

5. CDCFIB Secretariat– 209 personnel

 

The letter also noted that the Board is seeking a waiver for advert placement to run for a period of three weeks instead of the statutory six weeks required by law, citing urgency.

 

Additionally, the document attached includes a copy of the financial clearance issued by the Budget Office of the Federation (BOF), signifying the government’s readiness to fund the recruitment exercise.
