President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signaled openness to welcoming the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, into the All Progressives Congress (APC), should he decide to officially join the ruling party.

The President made the remarks on Tuesday during the commissioning of the Maitama-Gishiri Bridge and Katampe, Jahi, Mabushi Link Roads in Abuja, a project executed under Wike’s supervision as FCT Minister.

Speaking at the event, President Tinubu praised Wike’s dedication to infrastructure development in the capital city, describing him as an asset despite not being a member of the APC.

“We have somebody in Nyesom Wike. He is not a member of my party, not yet, but the day he changes his mind and registers with the progressives, we will welcome you,” Tinubu stated.

The comments have fueled renewed speculation over Wike’s political alignment, as the former Rivers State governor continues to work closely with the APC-led federal government despite his longstanding affiliation with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The commissioning event was attended by top government officials and party loyalists, highlighting the ongoing push to transform Abuja’s infrastructure under the Tinubu administration.
