The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced the temporary closure of the Apo-Wasa road on Friday, June 13, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., to facilitate the commissioning of a major infrastructure project by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, the newly constructed Left-Hand Service Carriageway of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) Stage II, spanning from Ring Road I Junction to Wasa Junction, will be formally inaugurated by the President at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow.
In a show of solidarity and support, traders, mechanics, and shop owners in Apo Mechanic Village have voluntarily agreed to close their businesses for the day to welcome the President and participate in the commissioning event. Their associations have instructed members to resume business on Saturday, June 14.
The FCTA has advised motorists to seek alternative routes during the temporary road closure and assured that traffic enforcement officers will be deployed to ensure smooth flow and minimize inconvenience.
The administration appealed to the public for understanding and cooperation, emphasizing that the road closure is temporary and necessary for the successful execution of the event.
