Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, is not given to sychophacy. He speaks direct on issues without fear or favour as he perceive them. In that vein, Peter Obi emphatically stated that the mid-term anniversary of Governor Alex Otti was worth celebrating as the Governor had shown two years of impactful leadership with difference. Obi who eulogised the Abia State Chief Executive at the Special Anniversary Thanksgiving Service held at the Seventh – Day Adventist Church, Aguiyi-Ironsi Layout, Umuahia also endorsed Governor Otti for a 2nd term.

Barely four days after Peter Obi spoke glowingly of the Abia State governor, the good people of Isiala Ngwa North and South local government areas rolled out the red carpet and drums in a grand civic reception/appreciation ceremony in honour of the performance oriented leadership of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, the Executive Governor of Abia State at the Sam Ihesiulo Stadium, Okpuala Ngwa, Isiala Ngwa North Council Headquarters. In validation of the New Abia and the effectiveness of Governor Otti in governance of the state in the past two years, the generality of the people of Isiala Ngwa Federal Constituency in unionism endorsed him for a second term in office.

It was endorsement galore as speaker after speaker urged the governor to seek reelection and assured him of their loyalty, solidarity and support. Senator Darlington Nwokocha set the pace in his speech when he moved a motion for a vote of confidence on Governor Otti which was upheld by the people. The member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly, Hon.Ginger Obinna Onwusibe in his address declared that there was no vacancy in the Abia State Government House till 2031. Hon. Onwusibe’s declaration was welcomed by loud ovation.

Elder statesman, Dr. Gershon Amuta, former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ncheta Omerekpe and the President of Ngwa National Association, USA and Canada, Dr. Ugochukwu Agu, all spoke in the same vein and thumbed up to the governor for a second term.

The youth were not left out in the seal of approval for Dr. Alex Otti’s second term in office. An illustrious young industrialist of international repute with businesses in the USA and Australia, Engr (Sir) Cyril Chinonso Ishmael in his speech stated that the Governor Alex Otti led administration has inspired renewed investors confidence in the state through visible infrastructural projects and reforms. The vibrant, energetic, grassroots politician, phenomenal philanthropist and business development expert, Engr. Cyril Chinonso Ishmael whose support to Governor Otti and the Labour Party is unwavering, disclosed that plans were underway to host an economic summit aimed at complimenting the government’s drive to attract more foreign investments to the state.

A proof of the seriousness of their backing, thousands of former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party (AP) defected to the Labour Party (LP). Many members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the area joined the ruling Labour Party in the state.

Elated Governor Alex Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, and assured that the Mgboko-Ntigha Road project would be completed by December this year. The governor further announced that compensation has been paid fully to land owners whose land where affected by the airport at Nsulu. Also on a cheerful note, Governor Otti directed that the Sam Ihesiulo Stadium, Okpuala Ngwa be transformed and upgraded to a standard stadium.

Given Governor Alex Otti’s superlative performance and for the Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency endorsements to have a bullet effect, there is need for communities, local government areas, federal constituencies to organise similar ceremonies to consolidate the second term of the people-centred administration.
