With the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum looming, landowners in Abuja are flooding the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) office in a bid to avoid losing their properties over unpaid ground rent.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) had earlier named high-profile defaulters, including the Nigerian Navy, the Department of Petroleum Resources, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, the Federal High Court, and the Federal Inland Revenue Service.

State liaison offices for Lagos, Kwara, Jigawa, Benue, Ondo, Adamawa, Osun, and Enugu are also listed, alongside 34 foreign embassies.

A public notice issued by the FCT Department of Land Administration on June 2, 2025, warned that continued default could result in the revocation of Rights of Occupancy.
