The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected the notice for the 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing non-compliance with electoral guidelines.
In a letter dated June 13, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Chairman, INEC stated that the notice failed to meet the requirement of Part 2(1)(2)3 of the 2022 Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties.
According to the commission, the regulation mandates that “the National Chairman and National Secretary of the Party shall jointly sign the notice of convention, congress, conference or meeting and submit same to the Commission.”
INEC, through its Acting Secretary Hajiya Hauwa Aminu, advised the PDP to ensure strict adherence to the guidelines moving forward.
