In a bid to restore professionalism and public trust, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, conducted a statewide inspection of police checkpoints along major highways including Owerri–Onitsha, Owerri–Port Harcourt, and Owerri–Umuahia roads.

The move followed public complaints about alleged extortion and misconduct by police personnel. During the exercise, CP Danjuma warned officers against unethical practices and emphasized the importance of discipline, integrity, and respect for human rights.

Seven officers were arrested for various infractions and are currently undergoing disciplinary procedures. The CP also interacted with motorists, urging them not to give bribes or allow unauthorized phone searches.

To promote transparency, emergency contact numbers for the Command’s X-Squad and Complaint Response Unit were distributed. CP Danjuma reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for corruption and commitment to a more accountable police force.
