The Anambra State Government has issued a public directive urging residents and building occupants, especially in public view areas such as Onitsha, Awka, Nkpor, Nnewi, and Ekwulobia, to repaint dilapidated or unpainted structures under a new initiative titled “Operation Repaint Your Buildings (Ka Anambra Chakee).”

According to a public notice released by the Ministry of Environment and signed by Commissioner Engr. Dr. Felix Odimegwu, the exercise is aimed at enhancing the state’s aesthetic appeal and environmental health in line with the Anambra State Environmental Management, Protection, and Administration Law 2024.

From July 1, 2025, regulatory officials will begin house-to-house inspections to identify non-compliant structures. Buildings not repainted within the last ten years or visibly defacing the environment are required to undergo repainting.

The ministry emphasized that a clean and eco-friendly Anambra is achievable through joint efforts by residents and corporate bodies to beautify the state.
