Former Vice President of Nigeria, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, GCON, has firmly denied reports claiming he has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued by his former media adviser, Umar Sani, Sambo described the rumour as “entirely false” and “fabricated to mislead the public.”

The statement clarified that a circulating photograph of Sambo with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani was an old image from a condolence visit, now being “deliberately misrepresented.”

Sambo is scheduled to attend the commissioning of a 300-bed hospital in Kaduna on June 19, 2025 — a project he initiated while in office. The visit, Sani stressed, should not be misconstrued as a political alignment with the APC.

“For the avoidance of doubt, His Excellency, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo remains a loyal and committed member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),” the statement concluded.

The public has been urged to disregard the defection rumour.
